A fiery heart in rustic ceramic
The Solbulb lamp hides a fiery heart beneath a rustic ceramic exterior. Each body is handcrafted from raw ceramic, its surface carrying the gentle, undulating texture of the potter’s hand rather than the flatness of a mould, so every Solbulb lamp carries subtle, natural variation from piece to piece. The unglazed, earthy surface is left deliberately understated, so that the light emerging from within becomes the clear focal point of the design.
The round, cut-away acrylic globe
Set into the ceramic body is a round, cut-away acrylic globe that houses the light source. The open cut in the globe lets the glow spill outward while still softening it, so the Solbulb lamp reads less like a bulb switched on and more like a small sun glowing from within a rustic vessel. The contrast between the matte ceramic shell and the smooth, translucent acrylic globe is central to the design, pairing a rough, tactile material with a clean, glowing one.
Handcrafted, one piece at a time
Every Solbulb lamp is made by hand at Hilykan Factory in Vietnam. Because the ceramic body is shaped and fired individually, no two lamps are perfectly identical – a quiet reminder that the piece in your space was actually made by a person, not stamped out by a machine. This hands-on process is part of what the Hilykan team considers The Art of Light Sculpting: treating each lamp as a small sculpture first, and a light fixture second.
A warm 3000K glow
The Solbulb lamp is lit by a warm 3000K LED light source, diffused through its round acrylic globe. The tone sits close to candlelight and firelight, so the lamp reads as intimate and calming rather than clinical, and it pairs comfortably with the other warm-toned pieces in the Hilykan collection. This warm color temperature is a deliberate, consistent choice across the Hilykan range, favored for spaces meant to feel relaxed rather than bright and task-focused.
Where the Solbulb lamp belongs
Because it is compact and sculptural, the Solbulb lamp suits a bedside table, a reading nook, a console, or any quiet corner of a living room or lobby where a single, glowing focal point is welcome. Its rustic ceramic body also reads well next to other natural materials – wood, stone, linen – and against warm, earthy wall tones. It can also work well as a single accent piece on a shelf or sideboard, where its glow draws the eye without competing with brighter, more functional lighting nearby.
A symbol as much as a light
Solbulb was designed around a simple idea: true brilliance needs no outward display. Like the sun rising silently behind a mountain range before it blazes into full view, the lamp keeps its light source hidden inside a modest ceramic form until it is switched on, and only then reveals its full glow. It is meant as a quiet affirmation that inner strength does not need to announce itself constantly to be real.
Caring for your Solbulb lamp
Wipe the ceramic body with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust, and avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads that could scratch the surface. Clean the acrylic globe gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth rather than glass cleaner, since some chemical cleaners can dull acrylic over time. A light dusting every week or two is usually enough to keep both the ceramic body and the acrylic globe looking their best.
Placement and handling
Ceramic is a durable but not unbreakable material, so place the Solbulb lamp somewhere stable, away from table edges or areas with heavy foot traffic. When moving it, it is best to lift the lamp by its ceramic base rather than by the acrylic globe.
