The next chapter of inner light
The Vessel II lamp continues and extends the Hilykan idea of inner light, where the rustic beauty of raw ceramic meets the quiet restraint of minimalist lighting design. It builds directly on the original Vessel lamp, carrying its handcrafted character into a newer, more open, and freer form.
A cylinder open at both ends
The Vessel II lamp is a handcrafted ceramic body shaped by hand from raw clay, formed as a cylinder that is open at both ends rather than closed at the top. This opening is the key difference from the original Vessel piece, allowing light to radiate freely in both directions rather than being contained within a single opening. It is a small structural change, but one with a real, noticeable effect on how the light behaves, travels, and spreads throughout a room.
Handcrafted, one piece at a time
Every single Vessel II lamp is shaped by hand at Hilykan Factory in Vietnam. Because each individual ceramic body is formed and fired by hand, small, natural, gentle variations in texture and tone are part of what makes each individual piece unique. This hands-on process reflects the Hilykan idea of The Art of Light Sculpting, treating each lamp as a small sculpture first and a light fixture second, rather than the other way around.
Light radiating freely from both ends
A warm 3000K light source sits concealed within the ceramic cylinder, and because both ends of the Vessel II lamp are open, the warm glow spreads outward in both directions rather than being pushed through just a single opening. The result is a softer, more diffused, and more even luminescence than a lamp lit from just one end only. Placed on a shelf or console, the Vessel II lamp casts light both upward and downward at once, giving it a gentler, more ambient presence than a typical single-direction light fixture.
A quiet, soulful presence
The Vessel II lamp does not aim to impress through ostentation. Instead, it settles quietly into a room, closer to a small, quiet sculptural monument to minimalism than a conventional, ordinary light fixture, where the rustic ceramic form and the warm glow are felt as much as seen. This quiet, understated quality is part of what carries the piece forward from the original Vessel lamp, while still clearly marking it out as its own distinct, standalone design.
Where the Vessel II lamp belongs
Because it is small, compact, and quietly sculptural, the Vessel II lamp suits a console table, a bedside table, a shelf, or any calm corner of a living space or lobby where a soft, ambient glow is welcome alongside other natural materials like wood, stone, or linen. Because light spreads from both ends, it also works well as a small accent piece placed away from a wall, with nothing obstructing either side of the cylinder.
Caring for your Vessel II lamp
Wipe the ceramic body with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust, and avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads that could scratch the surface. Because both ends are open, dust can settle inside the cylinder, so an occasional gentle wipe of the interior is also worthwhile, using a soft brush if needed to reach the interior surface.
Placement and handling
Ceramic is a durable but not unbreakable material, so place the Vessel II lamp somewhere stable, away from table edges or areas with heavy foot traffic. It is best lifted from the ceramic body itself rather than by the cord or the light source. Please check with the Hilykan team through the contact page for current guidance on indoor versus outdoor placement.

Vessel II lamp: frequently asked questions
What is the Vessel II lamp made of? A handcrafted ceramic body, formed as a cylinder that is open at both ends, with a warm light source concealed inside the hollow ceramic form.
How is it different from the original Vessel lamp? The Vessel II lamp is open at both ends of the cylinder, rather than closed at one end, letting light spread more freely, evenly, softly, and gently in both directions at once.
What color temperature does it use? A warm 3000K light source, concealed within the ceramic body, chosen to keep the glow soft, warm, and intimate rather than bright and clinical.
What are its dimensions? Please check with the Hilykan team through the contact page for the current dimensions of the Vessel II lamp, as its sizing and proportions can be discussed for your specific space and layout.
Is the Vessel II lamp dimmable? Please check with the Hilykan team through the contact page for the current dimming options available for the Vessel II lamp, as this can depend on the specific order, wiring, and installation setup.
Does every Vessel II lamp look exactly the same? Not exactly. Because the ceramic body is handcrafted and fired individually, small variations in texture and tone are part of its handmade character, and are considered a feature of the piece rather than an inconsistency to correct.
