IDEA & DESIGN
The Múa lamp by Truong Kha Tu takes its inspiration from a ballet dancer’s skirt: two layered shades flare wide, overlap and curve as if the skirt were moving with each step.
The curve of the stem plays a key role, giving the whole piece a sense of softness. Together they form a lively, graceful silhouette — true to its name, “Múa”, the Vietnamese word for dance.
Every angle reveals a different pose, like a dancer pausing mid-performance.
MATERIALS & LIGHTING IN THE SPACE
The two shades are made of composite plastic covered in dó paper and wrap around a central glass bulb (E27, 3000K warm light). A gently curved stem in PVD-plated 304 stainless steel carries them, set on a round metal base.
When switched on, light spreads softly through the dó paper and brings the shade to life — like the moment a dancer shines on stage.
In a living room or reading corner, Múa becomes a soft decorative accent, bringing a touch of the performing arts into the space.
Dó paper, made in Vietnam
Dó is a traditional Vietnamese handmade paper made from the bark of the dó tree, known for its fibrous texture and the gentle way it softens light. Learn more about dó paper.
The shade, stem and base of the Múa lamp are shaped and assembled at Hilykan Factory in Vietnam.
Múa lamp in the living space
In a living room corner or beside a reading chair, the Múa lamp brings a sculptural, flowing line into the room, its curved stem and flared shade catching the eye even when switched off.
Switched on, the light glows through the paper shade as a soft decorative accent rather than a main light source.
Light through dó paper
The fibres of the dó paper diffuse the light, so the shade glows evenly and gently rather than casting a harsh beam.
Seen from different sides, the overlapping curves of the shade change shape, giving the lamp a quiet sense of movement.
Pairing Múa with your interior
The natural texture of dó paper sits well alongside wood, linen, rattan and other warm, natural materials.
Leave some open space around the lamp so the full curve of the stem and the flare of the shade can be seen as a whole.
Caring for your Múa lamp
Always switch off and unplug the lamp before cleaning.
Dust the dó paper shades lightly with a soft, dry brush.
Wipe the stainless-steel stem and base with a soft, dry cloth, and avoid abrasive pads or harsh chemical cleaners.
About the dó paper finish
Because dó paper is handmade from natural fibres, small variations in texture and tone are part of its character, so each shade is slightly unique.
